CHAPTER THREE :
NUTTIN' BUT A GANGSTA PARTY
Like most of Urban America in the 90's...Drugs and Gangs destroys the brown communities. The growth of the gangs in Dakota is nearly equivalent to that of Los Angelos. More than 70% of the youth over the age of 13 are gang bangers on Paris Island. The Force Syndicate makes their reputaton known for having a gunner who's a marksman and is not afraid to shoot at will. Though he has yet to kill any one, Rolly has and will shoot hands, knees, and other body parts of his rivals with an accuracy unmatched. This respect and fear for the FS is well known and Rolly eventually becomes the head of the Force Syndicate. On the other side of town: Hannibal and Leonard (now going by the monkier Arson) are no longer the face of two young inspiring boxers in the eyes of their elders. Now they are well known and respected gangbangers amongst their peers. During this time, Hannibal becomes involved with a local girl named Lark Calendar. Lark is a run away from an all girl group home in Paris Island, she is known as a booster and drug dealer and is also one of the few female members of the Paris Island Bloods.
Hannibal attempts to convince Lark not to join the Paris Bloods because that life style only leads to death. Leo becames psychotic and violent as he becomes more involved with the gang life. Unknown to Hannibal, Leo begins to rob and kill innocents and rival gangbangers for fun. One night following a corner store robbery in Dakota city, Hannibal and Leo are arrested after a store clerk is severely beaten by members of the Paris Bloods. Though he had no physical altercation with the store clerk, and Leo was actually the one who almost killed the clerk. Hannibal takes the fall for Leo and the gang. He refuses to give up any information about his gang life and is sentence to juvenile jail until his 18th birthday.
While in prison Hannibal finds out Lark is pregnant with his child. Knowing this, Hannibal decides that he will leave the gang and change his life around once he's released. With his "best friend' no longer around him, Leo mentally don't give a f*ck about anything. He gets into a heated argument with his father whom he viciously kills then burns the body. The gang violence and deaths on Paris Island increase on almost a daily basis. Rollys' conscience begins to get the best of him and he attempts to make the Force Syndicate more helpful to the people of his community, This alienates some of the syndicates members as the rival gangs begin to question the FS's toughness.
